Again Jesus said, "Simon son of John, do you truly love me?" He answered, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Take care of my sheep." ~John 21:16

About Prostitution

An Unpleasant Reality

There are three kinds of prostitutes in Cambodia:

  1. Those girls that are high end prostitutes, cater to wealthy tourists and earn an excellent living for themselves. They are not victims, but operate a lucrative business for them selves. Percentage wise there are very few of this class of prostitute. They are not interested in leaving prostitution.
  2. Young female factory workers often find that they may have to support themselves through occasional prostitution because their destitute family meets them at the gate of the factory on payday and takes most of their monthly paycheck. These girls are involved in prostitution to support themselves and their family. These girls often have several regular local customers. They have choice and frequently move in and out of prostitution at will.
  3. Then there are the young girls and children that are sold by their families, kidnapped or tricked into coming to the city for a job that turns out to be forced imprisonment and become prisoners in the booming Cambodian sex trade. This group which are controlled by sex traffickers includes the vast majority of the prostitutes in Cambodia.

The first two types of prostitutes do not want to be rescued. It is their choice to engage in this type of activity. The young girls and children that are sold into the sex trade desperately want to be rescued and taken from this traumatizing life to a place where they can rebuild their lives and become normal again.

TransformAsia has a solution, where these girls can find a new meaning for their lives as they learn a skill and become whole again.

Join the TransformAsia family as we work to help these young women heal.
