The Resurrection Celebration
America got used to Easter season both in the Christian and Pagan world. But for the people and nation of Cambodia, the word “Easter” is not in their
vocabulary. Moreover, Easter season usually happens at the same time as the
traditional Khmer New Year, which is in mid-April. Even most of the Khmer
Christians have never been taught about Easter. However they know all about Christmas and normally make a big deal about this celebration.
For a long time it has been a burden on my heart that the Cambodian
Christians do not understand that our salvation depends on the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Without His death, burial, and resurrection, Christmas would have no meaning. It is through the resurrection that Jesus defeated Satan, death, hell, and the grave and provided us with the completion of the plan of salvation. While I was in Cambodia recently, I received an invitation from one of our pastors in the northern district of Cambodia to be a keynote speaker with their first ever combined denominational Resurrection Service (See pictures above). This provided my first opportunity to begin teaching the true Easter message to our Cambodian Christians. My heart was overwhelmed to see these very poor people gather and to see their response to the teaching of the Resurrection of Jesus and the finished work He did to provide our salvation. In the Cambodian culture, women are considered the very least in every situation, especially when it comes to the important or special positions in the society. The highlight of my message focused on the role of Christian women. After the resurrection of Jesus, He introduced us to a new Heavenly Society where the women received the first privilege of being told of the resurrection of Jesus. It was the women that had waited patiently outside His tomb. Therefore, Jesus honored them to be messengers to proclaim this good news to His disciples (men).
I then spoke directly to the women in the audience, telling them that they
must recognize their important role in this new established Heavenly
Society where they are no longer the least. They are now called into the
honorable service of Christ and are given the gifts of the Holy Spirit to
enable them to do whatever God calls them to do. The women’s response
was overwhelming with tears of joys and loud amens and hallelujahs! I
asked the men to give their “amen” to this as well. At first it lacked
enthusiasm, but as I bid them to show their agreement with God’s Word,
they too shouted “Amen!” Praise God for this privilege to share the true
Easter message with these Cambodians!

New Work at Kambour Village
Life in Kambour Village offers few employment opportunities.
Many parents have journeyed to Thailand, desperately searching
for any means that will allow them to provide for their children.
The absence of these guardians from the village leaves the youth
and children at very high risk of exploitation. Through
sponsorship, these children can be protected and their families
restored. Please pray for these children and their families that God
will provide the sponsors they need to survive.
Stopping the Trade
A recent UNICEF study revealed that close to 55,000 young
women, girls and boys are trapped in sexual slavery in
Cambodia. More than 35% of these are under the age of 16.
TransformAsia is on the front lines, rescuing the children
and providing a better future. With our comprehensive
support sponsorship program, we are fighting this attack
against the innocence of childhood, bringing hope to ‘at-risk’
children to keep them from becoming victims of the trade.
By partnering with TransformAsia, you are helping to
transform these children into leaders of their communities
who can create a new culture of hope based on God’s
redeeming love. Your sponsorship provides them with
spiritual, educational, emotional, and nutritional assistance
to become Godly leaders who can change their world. Your
prayers and encouragement bring a new ray of eternal hope!
